I spent the short week working on this one spread and I'm super excited about how it turned out! I worked intuitively, that is with absolutely not idea where I was going until the very end. I had to trust that something would come out of all those bubbles—and it did.
So if you're interested in how I developed the page from my gut—here's what happened:
First, I was inspired to start drawing bubbles from a beer ad in some magazine. It was a close up of all these brown bubbles and I just wanted to make them colorful. So I got out my gelly pens and started making bubbles on the side of the page.
On day three I really didn't do much - just added more texture from that envelope...but it was then that I knew what I had to say about bubbles and generally where I wanted to go with it.
